In an Exemplary move, Sh. Anil Kaushik, District & Sessions Judge, (POCSO Court), Sikar, Rajasthan completed a court trial of rape of a four year old girl in five working days. The incident occurred on 30th January and the proactive approach of Sikar police led to filing of the charge-sheet on 4th February, after which the girl was brought to court. The girl identified the accused from mugshots in the court and the accused was thereafter sentenced to life imprisonment vide judgement pronounced on 11th February 2019.
The accused is a native of Gujarat, was found with the girl on January 30 in a burial ground, a few meters away from where she lived with her parents in shanties near school compound in Khatu Shyam Ji.
The victim was bleeding and the accused got injured when he tried to flee. Both of them were then taken to the hospital, where the girl identified her rapist photograph.
The man was later identified as Karan, alias Kalu and Kaliya. A case was registered against him on January 31. He was arrested the same day and was sent to judicial custody the next day.
Court while pronouncing judgment expressed discontent towards FSL for not providing the DNA analysis report on time, even after the special requests from Superintendent of police, Legal Cell and the Court. And, asked the state government to instruct the concerned department over the slow functioning of the State FSL department.
